Once you notice parts of words being repeated and guess today’s gimmick, the rest of the theme answers Give you a third dimension beyond the Across and Down clues to nudge you towards the correct answer. Beginnings and ends of compound words are linked together and the last one loops back to the first. I’m not sure what to call this kind of theme so I’m going with Compound Word Ring. He has nothing to do with today’s puzzle but I’ve been trying for a long time to interview him and today we finally managed to chat.
